'Garden Wall Mother' is a tabletop soft sculpture made from hand-dyed cheesecloth and steel armature. Built slowly through repeated acts of folding, weaving, braiding, binding, and accumulation, the work considers maternal care as a form of living architecture full of contradictions - soft, protective, adaptive, and strong.
While making it, I could almost hear her saying: “You will be my garden, and I will be your wall.” A promise to hold, shelter, and bear the weather, while still leaving room to grow.
I’m interested in the tension between protection and freedom: how care can hold without enclosing, shield without limiting, and create the conditions for another body to root, rise, and flower.
